  • Vintage Large Metal Trays, Currier & Ives, "The Village Blacksmith" & "The Mill Dam at Sleepy Hollow", Classic Americana, Sunshine Biscuits Promotional Products, Wall Decor, Guildcraft Set of Two Serving Trays, (Discontinued)
  • Vintage: 1976
  • Made in Frenchtown, NJ, USA
  • Details:  These large metal trays by Guildcraft for Sunshine Biscuits are so delightful and they are in very good vintage condition!  These two are based on lithographs from Currier & Ives from the 1800's - 1907. Each tray depicts a different Old Americana scene. "The Village Blacksmith", originally done in 1864, is a beautiful country scene with a working blacksmith, and children passing by.  "The Mill Dam at Sleepy Hollow", done circa 1850, shows The Stone House and Gristmill located in Tarrytown New York. Beautiful movement of water, willow trees and a man fishing from a wooden bridge. Bordered in a rich brown and golden rim, they look much more elegant than the average tin tray.  There were several of these made by Guildcraft with different works by different artists, very collectible. Both trays have information on the back regarding the images and the maker of these trays.
  • How to Use:  A beautiful set of of Old Americana trays, not only for serving, but would be lovely as decor. A great gift for an Americana or Currier & Ives collector. Great addition to a farmhouse / country decor!
  • Materials: Metal
  • Dimensions: Approx. 14.5 inches Long and 11.75 inches Wide
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Very Good Condition.  There is a little bit of rust in areas, mostly in the back, as acceptable due to age/use/wear.  Please make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.

Currier and Ives was started by Nathaniel Currier in 1835.  It was a successful American printmaking firm in New York City that produced prints from paintings by fine artists as black and white lithographs and later colored by hand, usually by German immigrants.  In 1857 Nathaniel partnered with James Merritt Ives and the company became Currier & Ives.  Currier and Ives was the most successful company of lithographers in the U.S.   Their works included lithographs of American life with different themes like:  hunting, fishing, city life, rural scenes, historical scenes, ships, railroads, winter scenes, still-lifes and so much more.  Currier died in 1888 and Ives was active in the firm until his death in 1895. Both Currier's and Ives's sons followed their fathers in the business, until they closed in 1907.  Today, original Currier and Ives prints are much sought by collectors, and modern reproductions of them are popular decorations.
