  • Vintage Decorative Bowl, Sadek Oriental Imari, Japan Porcelain, Pastel Blue & Pink, Chinoiserie, Gift Ideas, Home Decor, Asian Decor, (Discontinued)
  • Made in:  Japan
  • Vintage: circa 1980's
  • Details:  A very beautiful decorative bowl in the Imari style.  The bowl is made of fine porcelain by Andrea by Sadek and is signed by the artist on the back.  The plate features large pastel blue flowers and smaller pastel pink coral flowers with green leaves and blue branches.  There are several geometric shapes all around the border, these oriental patterns are not only beautiful, there is much significance and meaning within the design.  If interested, please see below for the meaning of patterns on this bowl.  We left the furniture protector felt pads on, as found.  The bowl retains its original gold foil sticker which reads:  "Andrea by Sadek, Made in Japan".   This piece would make a beautiful addition on a side table, great at the entrance table for mail, keys, etc.
  • Material:  Porcelain
  • Dimensions:  7.75 inches in Diameter, 1.5 inches Tall
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Excellent condition, no chips, cracks, or scratches, looks hardly used at all, might have been used only for display.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are ANTIQUE and VINTAGE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.

Japanese patterns: Looking from the outer border towards the center, we find the Shippo Pattern which is the green woven pattern with green dots in the center, it symbolizes a Happy Ending.  The other half of this border has several dots/circles with patterns within the balls, such as: Seigaihan which symbolizes Continued Peaceful Living.  There is more Uroko pattern within the geometric circles, Uroko has the power of driving out evil. Kikkou is made up of tortoise shell shapes and its a symbol of longevity and a prayer for long life.  The small flowers within the circles are Kiku, (Chrysanthemums), symbolize longevity and rejuvenation and Ume, symbolizing luck, nobility, purity, devotion. Lastly, the large flowers in the center we believe are cherry blossoms or Sakura and they are a symbol for Beginning.  Hope you found this interesting and gives you a deeper appreciation for such a beautiful and joyful bowl.

Andrea by Sadek was founded in 1936 by Charles and Norman Sadek, is now known as Charles Sadek Import Company, headquartered in New Rochelle, New York.  Charles named the company Andrea in honor of his daughter, who is still involved in the design of their products.  After WWII Norman Sadek started trade with Japan an inspired Japanese factories to produce higher quality products.   Sadek has produced beautiful products such as:  figurines, tea sets lamps, dinnerware and much more.  Sadly in November, 2010, Norman  Sadek passed away.  Although the company was acquired by Fitz and Floyd in 2015, Norman's son Jim, along with his wife, and Norman's daughters Andrea and Lauren, all remain involved with product design.
