A twisted handle. A woven ceramic basket. Two large roses — one pink, one yellow — with dark green leaves spilling over the rim. This is Capodimonte at its most romantic, and most recognizable.
This authentic Italian Capodimonte basket dates to the 1960s and bears all the hallmarks of genuine Neapolitan production: the famous N-and-Crown stamp on the base, the Capodimonte Made in Italy mark, and the characteristic unglazed portion of the base that is the telltale sign of true Italian earthenware. The roses are large, lush, and beautifully hand-painted in the tradition that has made Capodimonte florals some of the most beloved and widely collected Italian ceramics in the world. The piece is heavy for its size — solid, substantial, and built to last another sixty years.
One available — only one left of the original pair.
Equally at home on a mantle, a dressing table, a bookshelf, or a garden room windowsill. A perfect gift for a Capodimonte collector, a lover of Italian ceramics, or anyone whose home leans toward the romantic, the maximalist, or the beautifully curated.
Capodimonte was founded as a Royal porcelain factory in Naples in 1736 under King Charles III of Bourbon, producing some of the finest porcelain in Europe. After the Royal Factory closed in 1834, many of its artists and modelers established their own studios throughout the Neapolitan region, carrying on the tradition. The iconic N-and-Crown mark was never trademark protected, which is why it appears on pieces from multiple studios — but it remains the symbol of the Capodimonte tradition, and pieces bearing it alongside a Made in Italy mark and the characteristic unglazed base are considered authentic Italian production.
